South Shore Stars Welcomes Dr. Renée Heywood as Executive Director

South Shore Stars is proud to announce the appointment of Renée Heywood, Ph.D., as its new Executive Director.

Dr. Heywood brings more than 25 years of experience in education, equity, and community engagement, most recently serving as an administrator for Brockton Public Schools and overseeing education for the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services. Her extensive background spans classroom instruction, district leadership, and statewide program management, reflecting a lifelong commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.

A respected advocate for educational equity, Dr. Heywood’s work has strengthened learning opportunities across Massachusetts, empowering students and educators alike. She has been a featured speaker at statewide and national conferences, including the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Partners in Equity Conference, Lesley Institute for Trauma Sensitivity, and METCO Directors Association Conference, where she has shared insights on racial equity, trauma-informed practice, and inclusive leadership.
